Victorian Opera "I look forward to planning chamber opera seasons for Victorian Opera at the new recital hall. The benefits are so clear and such a point of discrimination from any other theatre in Australia. Historically, it is of interest to me to see that the stage-size of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall reminds me very much of the size of similar spaces that one finds in for example, the Mirabell Palace in Salzburg or rooms in the Uffizi where chamber opera evolved as an art form. From a contemporary point of view the open nature of the stage, unimpeded by a proscenium arch, is a wonderful challenge to any designer or scenic artist."
