Leila Getz CM OBC DFA
Leila Getz founded the Vancouver Recital Society in 1980 and has led the organisation as Artistic Director since that time, to make it one of North America’s most respected classical music organisations. She has been instrumental in launching the careers of many young local and international artists. Leila has served on the juries of the Canadian Music Competitions, on the Canada Council, the Ontario Arts Council and numerous other arts bodies. After many civic awards, Leila was appointed a member of the Order of Canada in 1994 and the Order of British Columbia in 2004. In 2005 Simon Fraser University conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts.
Prof Vivien Ku
Vivien Ku was born in Hong Kong and completed her university education in Taiwan. She earned two graduate degrees in the United States, majoring in literature. Since 1990, Vivien has been producing traditional Peking opera for the Koo Foundation. Her company, the Taipei Liyuan Peking Opera Theater tours the world and she has lectured on Peking opera at Columbia University, Carnegie Melon University and the University of Pittsburgh. Since 1997, Vivien has been Managing Director of Taipei’s Novel Hall for Performing Arts, one of Asia’s most active performance venues.
William Lyne CBE AM
Australian-born, William Lyne, Director Emeritus Wigmore Hall, became Director of Wigmore Hall in London in 1966 and, during his thirty-seven years in the position, reinvented the Hall as one of the world’s great presenting venues. William Lyne is currently International Artistic Adviser for the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition where he has also served as Chairman of the Jury. He has also been a jury member of the Sydney International Piano Competition and continues to serve on juries for music competitions in Britain and for the ARD International Music Competition Munich. He is a member of the Music Committee for Her Majesty the Queen’s Medal for Music. He has advised the Victorian Government for several years.
