Melbourne Recital Centre

A Message from the

Premier of Victoria

Innovation, creativity and excellence are at the heart of Melbourne Recital Centre, the latest addition to Victoria’s cultural landscape.

Iconic architecture and exceptional design and construction set the stage for an exciting artistic vision which will bring us the very best in chamber music when doors open in 2009.

As the building takes shape in Southbank, Melbourne Recital Centre is busy extending its reach across the Asia-Pacific region, building relationships with presenters and venues, to explore our shared geography and history through the music of many cultures.

The finest acoustics, together with a commitment to presenting imaginative programming, will position Melbourne as an important world centre for chamber music. Broadcast and recording facilities will extend the influence and reach of Melbourne Recital Centre to audiences and music lovers far and wide.

In Melbourne Recital Centre we are creating a concert venue that is unique in Australia, one that will stand proudly in the company of other great music venues around the world.

A Message from the

Minister for the Arts

As Melbourne Recital Centre takes shape, so too does a brand new vision for the presentation of fine music in Victoria.

Designed specifically for the performance, recording, broadcast and enjoyment of small ensemble music, Melbourne Recital Centre complements and extends Melbourne’s arts infrastructure and our rich and diverse cultural life.

The outstanding performing spaces will attract many of the world’s great artists to perform in Melbourne and will provide an international platform for our local talent.

For audiences this means the opportunity to enjoy a diverse range of music in a truly intimate, acoustically brilliant setting.

Melbourne Recital Centre is a superb addition to the cultural infrastructure of Victoria and yet another centre of excellence in our Southbank Arts Precinct.
